Magnetic Particle Testing

The magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials may be used to detect discontinuities in ferrous aerospace components. When a magnetic field is induced into a components, discontinuities or geometry changes in the object will cause interruptions in the continuity of the field. Finely divided magnetic particles applied to the test object become trapped and accumulate at interruptions in the magnetic field on or near the surface. These particle accumulations, also called indications. Depending on the desired sensitivity, magnetic particles may be either colored for detection on light or coated with a fluorescent dye for detection under ultraviolet radiation.

All our inspectors are level II or level III certified to EN4179/NAS410 or ASNT, where relevant.
